April Veteran of the Month: Dennis R. Pratt

American Legion Post 33 and the Heritage Museum honor a deceased veteran of our local communities and Polk county each month.

Veteran of the month events are generally held on the second Saturday of each month. Those participating meet at the museum at 1PM.

Once the group has come together, they walk a block to raise the flags at the corner of C St. and Main at the site of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

For a month, an American flag and the flag of the honored service member's branch of service. At the end of month the American flag will be presented to the family and another American flag and  branch of service flag is hoisted for the next Veteran.

After the flag raising, the group is invited to return to the museum to enjoy refreshments, visit, and share stories of the honoree.
